A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

When I’m not making art I am spending time with my daughter, spending time with family, networking, and working a third shift job that I enjoy.

2. Why do you make art?

I make art for people to fall in love with it again. Art is fun, vibrant, and expressive. I meet people everyday who express they want to like it but it doesn’t spark their interest. I challenge myself daily in ways to grab their attention.

3. What inspires you?

My daughter inspires me, kids see the world in ways that I can’t explain. She doesn’t know it yet but she’s the brains behind all of my art. She reminds me that art has no limits to anything.

4. What/who are your influences?

As a multidisciplinary artist that also specializes in mixed media, anything and everything influences me. My creations are made solely based around objects and interactions.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

If I could meet someone dead or alive it would be my great grandmother Bernice Mayweather. I spent the majority of my life painting on her front porch. In some ways I still do. She passed away 5 years ago. If she could meet this version of me I would simply tell her thank you. She was the only person to believe in my dream and now I’m living it.
