A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

Serving the country as a US Navy Hospital Corpsman, specializing in Preventive Medicine.

2. Why do you make art?

Art is a form of therapy for me. Painting has helped me win the fight against depression and anxiety throughout my Naval career. A canvas represents a blank slate; a fresh start, my acrylics are my emotions, and my brushes are the keys releasing my emotions from a hidden place inside of me. Together, they create something beautiful.

3. What inspires you?

My connection to my higher self; awareness if you will. Awareness of the raw beauty that surrounds me. Good energies, nature, animals, dreams, my native people, self love, and power, just to name a few.

4. What/who are your influences?

As I dive deeper into spirituality, I am inspired by the experiences I face throughout my journey to consciousness and the knowledge I'm gaining. I do my best to capture my innerstanding on canvas.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Angela Bassett, Maya Angelou, Erykah Badu, and Alanna Airitam. Each of these women have inspired me in different areas of my life. I view them all as strong, beautiful, and creative female role models.
