A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

When not pushing pigment, I enjoy exploring the outdoor environs. I have also done a great deal of human services work.

2. Why do you make art?

I'm always finding patterns of light, shadow, and juxtaposed colors that excite me. I'm compelled to express this excitement through my paintings.

3. What inspires you?

While, of course, I delight in the paintings of others, it is pieced together artwork that most inspires me. Wood marquetry, stained glass, fabric art, mosaics, etc.

4. What/who are your influences?

My influences are very broad and eclectic. Some of the painters include A. Merizon, P. Bonnard, P. Cezanne, T. Thomson, Chuck Close, E. Hopper, and others.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

If I could meet anyone alive or dead it would likely be Paul Cezanne. I find his thinking to resonate with mine, and would love to hear his thoughts on art.
