A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and counselor, working to help people through life’s difficulties.

2. Why do you make art?

I am passionate about the cathartic and expressionistic nature of art. I feel art is the best medium to express one’s true self - thoughts and feelings.

3. What inspires you?

I am inspired by the moment in which I am drawing, painting or doing digital work. That is, I make art based on what I feel and think presently, as opposed to pure realism. I utilize abstraction to best express myself.

4. What/who are your influences?

I am a multidisciplinary and multimedia artist, so I am inspired by many art movements, theories and artists. Among them, however, I appreciate the innovations of artists such as Jean Michel Basquiat, Henri Matisse, Van Gogh and of course, Picasso.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

My favorite artist is Henri Matisse, I’d love to meet him during his Fauvist period, which I feel catapulted him into exploring expressionistic styles of art.
