A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I am a mother of three, plus 3 exchange students who are like my own. I enjoy refurbishing furniture, working with a wonderful group of people at E’Leet Estate Sales, and spending time with my family.

2. Why do you make art?

Art has always been a part of who I am. There was a period of time while I was raising my children when I didn’t have time for art, and I missed it. When I’m not being creative, I’m not myself.

3. What inspires you?

The world around me is very inspirational. The beauty found in the veins of a maple leaf, the rough feel of tree bark, the coloring of a Monarch’s wings. All of these things are precious to me.

4. What/who are your influences?

My mother in law has been an influence to me. She is a fabulous artist, but unfortunately, she has multiple sclerosis and is not able to paint or draw much anymore. But for a while she fought to keep being creative, to produce art, to share her gift with the world. Her determination has influenced me a lot. As far as famous art is concerned, I think my influences could be Grandma Moses, Picasso, and Salvador Dali.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Ghandi, I feel he has such a calm and kind peace about him. I would like to know his secret.
